Q, The first Malayalee who has conquered Mount Everest, What is he doing now?

A, Controlling vehicles at the traffic signals of Alappuzha town.

There are no mountains in Alappuzha!But there is a mountaineer in Alappuzha who has climbed mountains: Suresh Kumar.

People who drive across Alappuzha know Suresh very well; controlling vehicles along with a ‘STOP’ board and he become a daily wage home guard by  helping children’s  and elders to cross the roads very sincerely.  Almost people don’t know that he is the first south Indian person who has conquered Mount Everest two times who is now controlling vehicles at traffic signals. And almost people don’t know that he is the first Indian soldier who has hosted Indian flag for the first time. Everyone will be confused that why he is doing this job who has climbed Mount Everest two times. Because, still we are wondered about Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay and still we remember them.

Starting as Soldier

Suresh started his military life as soldier at Indo-Tibetan border police. He joined Mountaineering and Skiing institute for a camp due to his hobby interest. 3 months of camp at Mountaineering and skiing Institute which is located at Utter Pradesh. The first target of Suresh who has finished his 3 months of camp was to climb Kanchenjunga mountain, which the biggest mountain in India. He was in the team who has conquered that mountain was about 8586 meter. That is why he were included in the Mountain force of Indo-Tibetan Border Police.
